Christmas in June

Posted by Lydia Land on 4th Jun 2015

It's early June, Spring is in the air, and flowers are blossoming all around me.

And what am I doing? Thinking of Christmas.

No, I don't have sugar plums dancing in my head, nor am I thinking of Christmas shopping. I'm designing new Christmas cards for the Summer Markets. And, I'm late!

July is when many retailers start shopping for Christmas cards and placing orders, even though shipping won't be until October.

So, do I have Christmas music blasting in my studio? Am I humming Christmas carols?

No, unfortunately this has never worked for me. Rather, I just imagine what I would like to give to the people I know and take it from there.

Christmas has to be the most difficult holiday to design. What hasn't already been done?

There are so many Christmas cards, the competition is overwhelming. And since many people stock up on after-holiday Sales, it's difficult to keep up with a reasonably priced handmade card.

But, I do it every year and hopefully, you'll like the outcome.

Keep watching my website, lydiasland.com for Christmas cards. The wholesale side of my website will have them soon, whereas the public side will have them sometime in the Fall.
